GMX Email

I've been reading about gmx. What is it and how do you get it? Is it required to access e-mail for apex. I've tried setting up e-mail to no avail.

www.gmx.com. It doesn't use SSL which the Apex doesn't support but is used by Google. So if you use Google (like I do) the easiest solution is to setup a GMX account and have that forward all emails to your Google account. Configure the Apex to use GMX. There's a previous post on what those Apex settings should be. There's nothing magical about GMX - you can use any email service that doesn't require SSL. GMX is free and easy.

Does anyone know how to adjust the time of day in GMX? When I receive an email it is always +4hrs to the actual time.

I did setup a GMX account, but only have either msn or verizon.

You can still forward from GMX to those other services. After you log in, go to settings, then filter rules.

Thank you

There's just too much involved. You shouldn't have to be a PC expert when you pay that kind of money.

Hang in there! It will be worth it once it all starts working. The Apex really is pretty slick, there's just a bit of a learning curve. It's not a mass-market piece of electronics and it's only been released a few months so there's some growing pains.

I never thought it would be so time consuming, if I wasn't at home with a broken leg It would be next June.

If you want to post (or PM) me some screen shots of your network setup screen, I'll try and help you with that GMX configuration.

Also, set your email_alarm outlet to auto in the Apex status screen. And, will you list what the program statements are for the email_alarm outlet (from the configure outlet screen or the XML program screen)

OK, couple of things:
Port for GMX needs to be 587
That user name is your GMX user name (and password) not the Apex user name. Your username must be in the format "ww324@gmx.com" without the quotes of course.

Turn the outlet to auto in the status menu.

Then give it a try. I'm going to PM you my cell number - you can call me if you want.
