Rimless tanks

I'm not really sure where to put this but here goes...

I have a 8ft x 24in x 30inT tank that is made with 3/4" throughout the tank. It appears to have been built rimless, but it has a steel brace that one of the previous owners made. At what height and thickness is the cross brace nescesary? I am going to look into maching 2 new braces either out of aluminum or stainless but I sure would love to have a completely open top tank.

Are we talking glass or acrylic? I am assuming glass. I wouldn't risk taking the centerbrace off. 3/4" is thick glass and I have seen "brick" style tanks in the six foot length, but even those have a rim.

You misunderstood. It has trim, but it was not made with a center brace.

and in this picture you can see the home made center brace...
